I love the beaches on Salamis Island! The water is clear and beautiful! Highly salted seawater took my arthritic pain away. I recommend that if you go, bring water shoes as there are sea urchins on the sea floor. During the Summer Months you'll find beach restaurants providing umbrellas and lounge chairs for paying customers.We also visited the Historic St Mary's Monastery which was very nice. The inside of the Church was just absolutely beautiful! It's worth the visit. Across the way from the Monastery is the the Famous Poet's House; beautifully situated on the beach shore. Be cautious at night on this island, as there are wild dogs.

Questions & Answers
Salamina is a very nice place close to Athens and you can visit it comfortably, it has ferry boats that run every 15 minutes from Perama to Paloukia and vice versa. The problem with the garbage he has received and disposed of is from the populations and people who throw it away and are not interested! if they are careful and conscious then everything will be fine and clean!
